Stuart UMC Ministries
Grief Support Group
Have you lost a loved one recently? Do you wake with the thought of covering your head with the blanket and ignoring the world? Do you feel that the tears will never stop? Jesus knows how you feel, as we read in the Bible from John 11: 31-36,
“The Jews, who were with her in the house, consoling her, saw Mary get up quickly and go out. They followed her because they thought that she was going to the tomb to weep there. When Mary came to where Jesus was and saw him, she knelt at his feet and said to him, ‘Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.’ When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her also weeping, he was greatly disturbed in spirit and deeply moved. He said, ‘Where have you laid him?’ They said to him, ‘Lord, come and see.’ Jesus began to weep. So the Jews said, ‘See how much he loved him!’”
Stuart United Methodist Church offers a Grief Support Group open to anyone in the community who has suffered loss. We have three trained bereavement counselors available to listen, to suggest tools for handling your grief, and to provide Christian love and support. The group meets the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 1:30 PM in the church library. For further information call the church office: 694-3322.

Daylight Bible Study
This is an ongoing open Bible study that is open to all who seek to dive into the scripture and know God at a deeper level. The Daylight Bible Study meets each Tuesday morning at 9:30 AM in the church Fellowship Hall. It is considered “Open” in that anyone can join in the study at any time, you do not have to wait for a change in books being studied, just come. Its name reflects that it is held during the day light hours for those persons who find it difficult to come out after dark or may work shift work. One of the beauties of this study group is that if you can’t make the Daylight class because of a conflict the Starlight class covers the same lesson and you are welcome to come to it in order to keep pace with the class. We welcome new people with open arms.
Starlight Bible Study
Like the Daylight Bible Study the Starlight Bible Study is an ongoing open Bible study that is open to all who seek to dive into the scripture and know God at a deeper level. The Starlight Bible Study meets each Tuesday evening at 7:00 PM in the church Fellowship Hall. It is considered “Open” in that anyone can join in the study at any time, you do not have to wait for a change in books being studied, just come. It gets its name because it is held in the evening for those who are unable to come during the day light hours. One of the beauties of this study group is that if you can’t make the Starlight class because of a conflict the Daylight class covers the same lesson and you are welcome to come to it in order to keep pace with the class. We welcome new people with open arms.
Faith Kids
“Faithkids” is Stuart United Methodist Church’s Children’s Ministry. We meet twice a month on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday night at 5:00 – 6:30 PM. All children are welcome to attend. Parents are welcome to attend also. The children learn a Bible story and where to find the story in the Bible. We do crafts and activities such as relay races to better understand the Bible verse. There is a light snack and game time that follows the lesson. This year we hope to find ways to be more involved in the church as well as our community. We also hope to go on a few field trips as time allows. Our hope is that the children can grow and develop a closer relationship with God. For more information on FaithKids contact Joey and Lucian at 694-5267.
Youth Ministry
Help is needed for our Youth Ministry. At present we have no volunteers willing to lead our youth in a deeper relationship with Christ. This is sad because without direction we will lose our youth to the world.
Christian Development
We offer various classes and growth opportunities throughout the year. Generally there are two – three opportunities during the year covering topics on church growth, leadership development, Christian living, etc. Check on the website often for updates on upcoming opportunities or with the church office at 694-3322. Presently we are studying the book Essential Church?, by Thom and Sam Rainer. The study is being held on Sunday evenings at 6:00 PM in the church Fellowship Hall.
